I met Wisdom at a gospel concert at Florida Atlantic University. He said he had been writing for a while but it was the first time he would ever step on a live stage. I expected him to be filled with nerves, and possibly fumble his way through his performance, but I was absolutely wrong. This young man got on stage and commanded it. He was and is a natural. Wisdom is the future! I am co-signing this artist today. If his drive matches his talent, you will definitely be hearing a lot from him in the future. And Now... The Interview.
Introduce Wisdom to the world. In your own words who is Wisdom?
WISDOM is a young man who strives to do what is right in the LORD's eyes. I found out that I will never be perfect but I can be excellent and that is what I try to aim for every single day.
As a "Christian" hip-hop artist what are some of the obstacles you face?
The first one is the fact that many people just do not understand our culture. Many people, elders in particular feel that Hip Hop is not real music and that it can not be used as a way to worshipping God. I find that frustrating but I ignore the ignorance.
Another thing I face is the pressure to mirror the current secular music. As an artist I want listeners to enjoy the music because it glorifies God not because it sounds like someone or something else.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I have no idea. I am proud of that because God is in control so it will be easier to surrender to His will.
I actually had the pleasure of seeing your first Live performance, how did it feel to grace a live stage for the first time?
It felt pretty good I was very confident thanks to Jesus. I actually had a performance a week later and the crowd was amazing!!!! It feels good to do what you love.
Who are the top 5 artists in your music playlist?
I really don't have favorite artists. I do have favorite music genres. First R&B, then Hip-Hop, and third Reggae.
What motivates/drives you?
The power and influence music has on culture is what drives me to use this music to reach those who have never been reached. Some people are afraid of engaging our culture but engaging culture is what we live for.
What do you want people to take away from your music?
I want to inspire young people. I also want them to know that they can take control of their "current situation". Live life, Do Not let it live you!!!
What made you give your life to Christ?
I was tired of living the mundane life of a sinner. Everyday was the same old junk. With Christ we have a chance to learn more about HIM everyday.
You have a new mixtape coming out entitled 4 the youth. Besides the obvious why did you name it that?
I named the tape 4 the youth because I wanted young people to have some positive music of their own. I often tell people this is not my mixtape this is our mixtape. We need it, we're thirsty for something positive in this negative world.
What would you tell the kids trying to follow in your footsteps?
Keep God first in your life and He will make your path straight.Ignore haters and be greater. God Bless!!!
Mix tape Coming Soon!
